Feb 2024 - present (+2yrs)

Since February 2024, I've been working as a Data Engineer at Vordentech, specializing in cloud-native data pipelines and event-driven architectures on AWS. My day-to-day involves building scalable ingestion systems, processing large structured datasets, and integrating data lakes with analytical warehouses like Snowflake—all while focusing on automation, reliability, and maintainable DataOps practices.

Data Engineering & ETL Pipelines

  • I build and optimize efficient ETL pipelines that process large datasets from various sources. Recently, I designed a multi-stage financial data ingestion architecture that separates multi-tenant data into tenant-specific datasets.
  • To handle massive legacy fixed-width financial files, I developed a custom parser (handling COBOL-style field definitions, signed numeric fields, and specialized date encodings) and implemented chunk-based processing with Pandas to parse everything efficiently without exceeding memory limits.

Cloud & Event-Driven Architecture

  • I design containerized, event-driven workflows utilizing AWS S3, ECS/Fargate, EventBridge, and Lambda to execute complex data processing tasks reliably.
  • I engineered a schema-driven ingestion pipeline that dynamically creates Snowflake tables and loads data directly from S3. By implementing idempotent ingestion logic, the system easily supports concurrent executions and prevents duplicate data.

Python & Backend Optimization

  • I write backend solutions that solve real problems. By refactoring legacy Python services, I improved overall pipeline performance and system scalability, achieving a ~35% reduction in runtime.
  • Beyond data ingestion, I've created custom permissions frameworks using Gremlin Python and AWS Neptune, and designed RESTful APIs using Lambda + API Gateway for seamless external integrations.

DataOps & Team Collaboration

  • I apply modern DataOps practices, integrating Git workflows, CI automation, containerized development, and infrastructure scripting into our daily cycle.
  • I believe technology is a team sport. I'm the person who writes clear PRs, documented releases, and useful Git commit messages (my future self is always grateful) to maintain high code quality and traceability.

Client Communication & Tech-to-Business

  • I collaborate directly with international stakeholders and CTOs (such as my ongoing work building a scalable data platform for Milemarker) to clarify requirements and deliver production-grade pipelines.
  • I write SOW documents and present business cases because I strongly believe that understanding the business is the most important prerequisite before writing a single line of code. Less guesswork, more solutions.

Projects

I founded and lead ShareIT, a Spanish-speaking tech community focused on learning and collaboration. Managing the group has strengthened my leadership and communication skills as I guide discussions, curate resources, and foster a supportive environment. We support our work through a shared GitHub repository and an active Discord server. I also lead a developer team within the community, where we collaboratively build the ShareIT website—making technical decisions together, defining roles, and shaping how we communicate our purpose and vision.

What began as a personal blog to share knowledge has evolved into a complete content ecosystem. Driven by that same mission, the "El Ingeniero Consciente" newsletter was created to help professionals grow in tech with clarity and purpose, sharing fluff-free, real-world lessons. Today, the blog serves strictly as the technical hub, focusing purely on actionable Data Engineering, AWS, and software concepts. The newsletter complements it by exploring mindset and career growth, while also acting as a notification system for new technical articles.

Devium is one of my first backend projects, inspired by platforms like Medium and Dev.to. I built an API that allows users to register, log in, publish articles, and manage their content. This project helped me strengthen my understanding of authentication, CRUD operations, and API design, and it introduced me to documenting endpoints with tools like Swagger UI. Although the project is no longer under active development, it played an important role in shaping my early backend skills and my ability to explore and implement features independently.

About Me

Hey there! I'm Elias , allow me to introduce myself 👇

I’m Elias, a Data Engineer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spend my days building data pipelines, writing Python, and architecting solutions on AWS. I have a solid foundation in problem-solving, but if I’m being honest, my real comfort zone is simply a Linux terminal and a good cup of coffee.

While I love technology, I believe there's no point in building something without understanding the human need behind it. We spend all day talking to machines, but computers don't have a spirit or emotions—people do. That philosophy drives "El Ingeniero Consciente", my newsletter and content hub. It's a space where I publish practical technical articles on Data and Cloud, alongside reflections on career growth and mindset, aiming to bring intention and humanity back to our industry.

That same desire to connect led me to found ShareIT, an active tech community. Whether we are reviewing code together, organizing events, or just sharing advice, I thrive when learning alongside others. Seeing our members land jobs, launch projects, and grow their careers is hands-down one of my proudest achievements.

When I step away from the keyboard, I'm usually playing the piano (going on 11 years now!), reading about psychology, philosophy, or finance, or just enjoying a good conversation. I love meeting people from completely different backgrounds, as I truly believe diverse experiences make us not just better engineers, but better humans.

Thanks for stopping by! Whether you want to build something impactful together, talk about data, or just say hi, my inbox is always open.
