Work Experience

VORDENTECH

Feb 2024 - present

Since February 2024, I've been working as a Data Engineer at Vordentech, a full-stack data consultancy with clients all over the world. My day-to-day involves solving real problems with Python, data pipelines, and a bit of AWS magic. Here's a summary of what I've been doing:

Data Engineering (ETL Pipelines)

  • I build and optimize efficient ETL pipelines consuming and processing data from different source systems (like APIs, Google Sheets, S3 buckets), applying advanced logic and transformations with Pandas, and designing scalable and maintainable database schemas.
  • The result was a 15% improvement in processing speed and significantly cleaner, more reliable, and well-structured data ready for analysis.

Client Communication (in English)

  • I work directly with international clients, helping them discover what they really need (even when they're not 100% sure themselves).
  • I communicate clearly via text and voice in English, making sure requirements are fully understood before building anything. Less guesswork, more solutions.

Team Collaboration

  • I believe technology is a team sport. I work closely with other developers to define tasks, give and receive feedback, and keep things moving forward.
  • I'm that person who writes clear and useful Git commit messages (my future self will be very grateful), detailed PRs, and well-documented releases, to maintain high code quality and traceability throughout the project.

Cloud & Serverless Engineering

  • I orchestrate workflows with services like Step Functions (coordinating multiple Lambda functions), ECS (with Fargate), and EventBridge, to execute data processing tasks under a specific schedule or in response to events.
  • I deploy serverless infrastructure through AWS CLI or with custom scripting, applying the principle of least privilege to keep systems secure.
  • Featured project: I developed and delivered a Snowflake infrastructure generation system integrating Python, Lambda, and API Gateway, reducing security risks by 20% and improving response times. Finishing before the deadline with happy client messages is really great satisfaction.

Python & Backend Development

  • I've developed Python software solutions that solve real problems.
  • I've created a custom permissions framework using Gremlin Python and AWS Neptune for granular and secure access control.
  • I've written backend logic for a desktop application that allows users to map and validate CSV data, transform it, and store it in a relational database without having to scream at the screen.
  • I've also designed, refactored, and documented RESTful APIs using Lambda + API Gateway, ensuring they're easy to use and integrate for external developers.

Data Platforms & Client Projects

  • Currently collaborating with Milemarker through Vordentech, building a scalable data platform. I refactored and maintain their main pipeline, achieving performance and cost gains, integrating systems through API Gateway + Lambda, and writing SOW documents presenting business cases and potential solutions. I discuss these directly with the CTO, connecting technology and business, since understanding the business is the most important prerequisite before building a solution.

Projects

I founded and lead ShareIT, a Spanish-speaking tech community focused on learning and collaboration. Managing the group has strengthened my leadership and communication skills as I guide discussions, curate resources, and foster a supportive environment. We support our work through a shared GitHub repository and an active Discord server. I also lead a developer team within the community, where we collaboratively build the ShareIT website—making technical decisions together, defining roles, and shaping how we communicate our purpose and vision.

This project is my personal blog—a space where I research and communicate ideas on Data Engineering, backend development, Python, software design, and topics like philosophy, mindset, and career growth. Building it has strengthened my ability to dive deep into complex subjects and translate them into clear, practical articles. The platform originally combined a Django + Wagtail backend with an Astro + Tailwind frontend, which helped me design and consume APIs, deploy services to remote servers, and automate tasks. As the project grew, I migrated the content system to Sanity CMS, leading a full refactoring across two repositories and redefining the blog’s architecture. More than a technical project, this blog reflects my curiosity, my communication skills, and my commitment to continuous learning and sharing knowledge.

Devium is one of my first backend projects, inspired by platforms like Medium and Dev.to. I built an API that allows users to register, log in, publish articles, and manage their content. This project helped me strengthen my understanding of authentication, CRUD operations, and API design, and it introduced me to documenting endpoints with tools like Swagger UI. Although the project is no longer under active development, it played an important role in shaping my early backend skills and my ability to explore and implement features independently.

About Me

Hey there! I'm Elias , allow me to introduce myself 👇

I’m Elias, a Data Engineer (and a few other things) based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spend my days building data pipelines, wrangling Python code, deploying things on AWS, and talking to APIs like they’re part of the team.

I have a solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving with logic (and coffee). I love the terminal — seriously, Linux is my comfort zone. You'll usually find me immersed in Pandas, creating ETLs, or deploying serverless solutions with Lambda, API Gateway and designing storage solutions with RDS or DynamoDB.

Since February 2024, I've been working at Vordentech, a full-stack data consultancy with global clients. I communicate with them in English via voice and text to understand what they need and deliver solutions that actually work. My philosophy is that there's no point in building something without knowing what problem and/or need you're solving.

I believe collaboration is everything. Whether I'm reviewing pull requests, asking for help, or organizing events in my WhatsApp/Discord tech community (called "ShareIT"), I thrive when I'm learning and building with others. (Fun fact: that community has helped people find jobs, launch projects, network, and grow in tech. It's one of the things I'm most proud of.)

Outside of work, I write technical posts at esvdev.me, where I break down complex topics in a way that's (hopefully) useful and not boring. I also write for my newsletter "El Ingeniero Consciente" (The Conscious Engineer), where in addition to technical articles, I share my reflections on technology and personal development, trying to add a touch of humanity to all that code. I also share some of this content on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn.

And hey, it's not all about technology. I love music (I've been playing piano for 11 years), reading about psychology, philosophy and finance, and meeting people, regardless of their background and origin. I believe these experiences enrich my perspective and help me be a better engineer and person.

Thanks for reading! If you want to build something cool together, or just say hi, let's chat!
